No pain No gain- Yeah right!

So, I've been laying bricks down in my courtyard lately so that it will stop turning into a great big mud pit every time it rains. That way, I can enjoy my new garden without having to worry about getting stuck in the mud. Now, these bricks aren't that big. They are each one square foot and only about 2-3 inches thick. However, they are not light. I've been buying them at Lowe's 30 or so at a time. So I load them on my cart, then I load them into the back of the truck. Then, when I get home, I make the numerous trips to and from the truck to the backyard. Then I lay them out. This ends up being a whole lot of work and my legs, back and arms are really feeling it!

I knew that it would prove beneficial to start a project just because it would get me up and moving. But this is crazy. I have been enjoying the fruits of my labor thus far, but my muscles are telling a whole different story. I wish I had a rack I could get tied to so it could stretch my arms and legs and back. Maybe hanging upside down by my ankles would feel better. I just can't seem to stretch out as much as it feels I need to.

But all in all, I am very excited about the garden. I've got a couple tomato plants that have flowers blooming right now. I had basil and oregano plants that almost died when we had that terribly hot streak a week ago, but they are starting to come back. I have a couple spinach plants, a few strawberry plants, a cantaloupe, cucumber, zucchini, yellow squash, parsley, rosemary and 3 bell pepper plants. I am so excited.

I need to go to Lowe's again today to get another load of bricks, some wood chips for mulch, some more soil and a saw. I need to cut the wood I got to create another small border. I am going to plant sunflowers and pumpkins and they will complete my garden. Once I've laid all the bricks down and leveled them a little better, I will post pictures. Gardens are neat!
